05ers sign Jessic Ngankam on loan
The 23-year-old forward joins Mainz from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season
1. FSV Mainz 05 have bolstered their ranks for the second half of the campaign with the arrival of Jessic Ngankam. The 23-year old has joined FSV on loan from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season. Since making his Bundesliga debut in May 2020, Ngankam, who came through the youth system at Hertha BSC and featured for every Germany national youth side from U17 to U21 while on the Berlin side’s books, has made 64 appearances (recording 11 goals and seven assists) for Hertha, Greuther Fürth and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Conference League.
“Jessic is a young, physically robust player, who brings bags of pace and hunger. He made a name for himself with impressive performances at Hertha BSC, but his development has stalled a bit at Eintracht Frankfurt. He now has the chance here in Mainz to get a new lease of life and earn himself game time and goals,” said 05 board member for sport Christian Heidel.
Jessic Ngankam said: “I’m looking forward to this new challenge, and I think I’ll fit well into the team and system here. I already know some of the lads like Jonny Burkardt, Marco Richter and Tom Krauß, and, together with my teammates, I want to give everything to make sure we stay in the division.”
