"Chance to succeed"

Mainz 05 are raring to go ahead of their final home game of the season against Borussia Dortmund - ahead of the game Bo Henriksen emphasised the importance of confidence, but warned his side to have respect for the opposition.

A sold-out MEWA ARENA will play host to Mainz's final home game of the season against Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund, with the table finely poised ahead of the match in a way that would have been inconceivable just a couple of months ago. The 05ers are unbeaten in seven heading into Saturday's clash (18:30 CEST) with last season's Bundesliga runners-up, and head coach Bo Henriksen can hardly wait to get going in front of a home crowd after last week's draw at Heidenheim. "What a game - what more could you want as a footballer? We want to go out there and win, and if we can manage that twice, I'm pretty confident we'll stay up," said Henriksen in Thursday's press conference. The Dane's goals for the run-in, which will also see the 05ers take on Wolfsburg, are clear.

M05's head coach also spoke about

The squad situation

"Karim Onisiwo trained individually on Thursday, will get a splint on Friday and then we'll know if he's in contention for the matchday squad. Everyone else is fit for Saturday."

The return of Nadiem Amiri and Brajan Gruda after suspension

"Nadiem is an excellent footballer, we all know that. He's one of our most important players. Brajan is also crucial - he can take players on, which makes things very tricky for the opposition. Both increase our chances of doing damage to Dortmund in tight spaces and in the final third."

The relegation battle

"We've put ourselves in a position to achieve our goal over the last two and a half months. We have to maintain our confidence on the pitch in our last two matches both with and without the ball, and defend from the front.  Everyone is giving it everything, the intensity is there, but we have to maintain a better attacking shape for longer periods. That hasn't really been the case in the last three games."

The final sellout home game of the season

"We're playing at home in front of our fantastic fans against the Champions League finalists. What a game - what more could you want as a footballer? We want to go out there and win, and if we can manage that twice, I'm pretty confident we'll stay up. I've said it many times - we're trying to achieve something, not prevent something. That's the approach. If we reach our goal of staying in the top-flight, that would be incredible: an achievement for the entire club. We still have a chance, and everyone here is doing all they can to take it."

His experiences at the MEWA ARENA

"From day one, I knew that home games here can be really special on and off the pitch. You can feel that before kick-off, in town and outside the stadium. I'm proud to be part of a group that would do anything for each other, including the fans."

His side's approach to taking on Dortmund

"We need to have courage, that's still the main thing and something we need to have week in, week out. We know what a good team they have. But on our side, we have confidence in ourselves and we're unbeaten in seven games. So we want to play our own game, and be energetic and focused throughout."

Borussia's progression to the Champions League final

"Congratulations to BVB! As a Bundesliga coach, of course it's always great to see German teams doing well in Europe. We had two sides in the semi-finals; that can only be good for German football."

Dortmund's team selection

"I have absolutely no idea who they'll field. But last week they made ten changes and won 5-1 against Augsburg. That tells you everything you need to know. They have quality everywhere, so it doesn't matter who plays - we'll show them respect."
