Deserved share of the points after “hard-fought battle”

Niko Bungert: “I think that the result is deserved after a game in which neither side gave much away. It was fairly clear to us during the week how the game would pan out. The styles of play would be fairly similar and it would be a hard-fought battle. We can be satisfied, because it is not always easy to keep going in that sort of weather. The three points were there to be won but it was two individual acts of quality that led to the goals. The start of the season has been pretty decent after the cup success and the draw today.”

Stefan Bell: “I got to play more minutes than I had initially expected to on my birthday today. It is not always easy to enter the game halfway through the first period, but it went well. I'm quite happy with the game when looking at how hot it was and between two teams that know each other well. No one was taking any risks in their own half which made it a proper battle. The first half was really quite uneventful but after the break both sides were a bit braver. In the end, the goals just came from individual quality. I felt that we had more in the tank come the end of the game, but there were chances for both teams to win it.”

Nadiem Amiri: "It’s too bad that we weren’t able to take all three points, but we can build on this performance. We struggled a bit after Union’s substitutions in the second half, but we’ll gladly take the point. I felt really good while setting up for the free kick and I’m happy that it went in. We lost some good players over the summer and will likely still need to make two or three more signings. I’m convinced that we will bring in additional reinforcements, as they're needed in several areas.”
