Niko Bungert: “We’re satisfied to have extended our unbeaten run away from home after a demanding game. Freiburg played very well and kept us away from their goal, however we also defended well. In the end, it was primarily a game of half-chances that lacked accuracy. I saw an overall mature performance from us. Jonny’s inclusion was somewhat surprising, but he really wanted to be out on the pitch and after consultation with our medics he was able to play one half, so as to not take any risks.”
Paul Nebel: “We’re happy with a point in Freiburg and I think the result is also a fair one. We didn’t create enough threatening moments in and around their box to deserve more than that. Overall, it was a good performance and we fought until the end. You also saw that we can hold our own against a strong side.”
Stefan Bell: “We allowed them one clear-cut chance in the first half, but otherwise we pressed well for the most part and only had a few phases in which we had to sit deep. We enjoyed the defensive work because we remained very compact as a block. It was a match of high intensity with Freiburg operating similarly to us. Despite that, we managed to have good spells of possession, especially after the break, but we just lacked those really good opportunities in front of goal.”
