"Certainly not going to give up"
Post-match reaction from the 05ers following defeat in Munich

FC Bayern 3-0 mainz 05
Niko Bungert: “The 3-0 score line rather tells the story. You need to do most things right if you are to succeed against Bayern. We began the game in positive fashion and could have gone ahead through Jonny after he did really well to make the opportunity but ultimately struck over. It might have gone differently had he scored. We then conceded the first goal with 10 players on the pitch and things get tricky from there with Bayern’s form this season. They are brutal in the way they go about their play, especially at home. You simply have to take your chances in that situation. You can’t really fault the teams for their efforts today but we come away empty-handed in the end. We are somewhat chasing things in the table now but want to get back to winning ways and are looking forward to next weekend’s derby, which should be entertaining. We are certainly not going to give up.”
Paul Nebel: “Bayern had the better chances today but we did also have opportunities. It can be pretty clear when things don’t go your way against a team as they are. We feel disappointed at this moment in time but won’t let it get us down. Over the coming games, we will look to give it our all in order to pick up as many points as possible. The pressure is off now and have just had a run of games where things haven’t gone so well. Now we need to push on and want to reward the fans with as much as we can for their support.”
Dominik Kohr: “It’s mixed emotions today because we didn’t play badly but that alone isn’t enough to win in Munich. We can’t really fault our performance too much and it would have helped to get that early goal against this kind of opponent – otherwise it gets tricky. After the break, we attempted to play with courage and had a couple of chances but nothing clear-cut. Nevertheless, I still have a good feeling and believe in this team for the final three fixtures. We can be proud of ourselves but now just need to make sure we mark this season with what it deserves.”
