Lee: "Very thankful and very happy"

Niko Bungert: “We didn’t let the game in Wolfsburg get to us. We remained courageous against the best team in the league, creating chances throughout. We improved as the game went on and deserved to go 2-0 up. Obviously you’re always going to be put under pressure late on against a team like Bayern, but the lads defended brilliantly both as a unit and as individuals. We pushed ourselves to the max today and ultimately earned the 2-1 win.”

Jae-sung Lee: “It’s certainly no mean feat to be able to net twice against Bayern München. I just tried to keep calm and I benefitted from the way in which my chances arrived in order to score. Of course, a bit of luck was needed, but the set-up play was also fantastic. I can’t take sole credit for the goals – it was a team effort. I may be shattered now, but I’m very thankful and very happy about the win today.”

Stefan Bell: “Our aim was to get forward as often as possible and put Bayern under pressure so that the game was played in the opposing half. That worked for extended periods but then at other times not so much since they’re simply a great team. We had to resist towards the end and defend with full focus. We got the balance just right today. If we had allowed them the space to play their football then we might have ended up on the wrong side of a similar score line to the one against Bayern in the cup. We showed great intensity in our tackles today and fought hard. We delivered a great performance.”
