First team 19.04.2025 - 19:42 Uhr

“Today really hurts”

Niko Bungert: “It’s extremely disappointing, especially given the second half, because we didn’t stop playing even when we were 2-1 up. We wanted to score a third goal, were dominant and kept creating chances for ourselves. We need to be capable of defending set pieces right until the end. It’s sort of representative of how things are going for us at the minute: despite not making many mistakes in our games, we’re just missing that final bit. When looking back on recent weeks, today was definitely a game where we would have deserved the three points. We’ll be the underdogs in our next games again, but maybe that role will suit us better.”

Jonny Burkardt: “Today really hurts. It wasn’t all perfect, as we didn’t get off to a great start, but we fought our way back in it. We managed to turn the game around and had some good chances to make it 3-1, but just weren’t able to put the game to bed. It’s extremely frustrating to concede the equaliser from a set piece. One thing is obvious: we won’t take our foot off the gas and stop fighting, despite today’s disappointment. We really wanted to keep the three points here today for our fans in particular.”

Nadiem Amiri: “We were missing a bit of luck and maybe a bit of composure at the back. Based on our performance, we could have even won 6-1 today — we put in a great game which is why it almost feels like a defeat right now. I’m really disappointed right now and frustrated, but I’m confident that we will be able to achieve our goal if we continue to play like this and work hard. We got stuck into our challenges, believed in ourselves and created chances. It’s crazy that we didn’t win — I’m at a loss for words.”
