Reunion with Bo Svensson on opening matchday

05ers to host Union Berlin on the final weekend of August at the MEWA ARENA

Just like last season, the 05ers will begin the campaign with a match against Union Berlin. This time around though, it’ll be different in several ways. First of all, Mainz will get to play at home on this occasion, but, more importantly, club legend Bo Svensson – and his assistant coach Babak Keyhanfar – will return to Mainz for the first time since departing. The game will take place on either 24th or 25th August, a week after the season begins with a DFB-Pokal tie at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Mainz are away at VfB Stuttgart on the second matchday before the first international break of the season. That break is followed by the visit of SV Werder Bremen. The final game of 2024 will see FSV play local rivals Eintracht Frankfurt just before Christmas, while matchday 34 sees the reigning champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen come to the MEWA ARENA.
