Robin Zentner signs new contract until 2028
The longest-serving 05er has put pen to paper on an extension. “Mainz is my home. I made this decision with my heart.”
Robin Zentner is staying at 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 30-year-old has extended his contract, which was originally set to expire in summer 2025, by three years until 2028. The goalkeeper, who joined FSV at the age of 11 in 2006, has made 190 competitive appearances for the 05ers since his Bundesliga debut. Apart from a two-year loan at KSV Holstein Kiel from 2015 to 2017, Zentner has spent his entire career at Mainz 05, and is currently the club’s longest-serving player, with this extension set to take him to 22 years under contract.
“He’s become one of the faces of Mainz 05”
Mainz 05 sporting director Niko Bungert said: “Robin Zentner has been constantly evolving during his time here, and has developed from a promising young talent between the sticks into an established Bundesliga goalkeeper and a leader. His career isn’t just down to the excellent goalkeeper coaching here, but also Robin’s ambition and character. He’s become one of the faces of Mainz 05 and loves to take on responsibility for his team and the club. More than two decades at one club clearly shows a deep connection and his importance to us.”
Robin Zentner: “Mainz is my home. I made this decision to sign an extension with my heart. I’m pleased that I’ll be able to celebrate more success with this team over the next few years. We’ve developed a lot together over the last few years and are on a good path. I want to stay part of this great project.”
