Südtribüne farewell friendly against MSV Duisburg
In May 2011, the Zerofivers’ fans ensured that the Bruchwegstadion went out with a bang for its final Bundesliga game against FC St. Pauli
During the international break, 1. FSV Mainz 05 will play a friendly against third-league MSV Duisburg at the Bruchwegstadion on Saturday, 9th September (15:30 CEST).
However, the context of the event is much more exciting than the sporting occasion itself. With the organisation of this friendly and the choice of opposition, the club are responding to the wishes of the fan scene, who want to use the occasion to say farewell to the stadium’s Südtribüne. Up until the move to the new stadium in 2011, the standing terrace was the centerpiece of the Mainz fan community and is expected to make way for the construction of a new field office and team facilities next year, therefore the fan scene is planning a fitting send-off for the stand.
