"Definitely not one of our better games"
Post-match reaction from the 05ers following defeat in Bremen

SV WERDER BREMEN 1-0 1. FSV MAINZ 05
Niko Bungert (sporting director): “That was definitely not one of our better games today. Even in the first half we didn’t show the energy we wanted which was reminiscent of the Union game. We just haven’t managed to replicate the performances that we’ve been giving at home in our away matches. It’s clear to see that if we are even the slightest bit off it then we do seem to struggle. Despite that, we were in the game until the final whistle, Werder weren’t able to create too much and, for me, we did provide a better second-half showing. After the restart, we were more organised and better at being first to the second balls while keeping Werder away from our own goal. In the end, what told was our inability to create anything more than half chances. Danny da Costa’s effort was as close as we came. Overall, I believe we deserved to lose. The end of the match was a bizarre one.”
Bo Henriksen (head coach): “Congratulations to Werder Bremen on a deserved victory. We made life difficult for ourselves in the first half and especially the opening 25 minutes in which we just weren’t 100% at it and that’s why we lost this game. After the break, we were the better team but simply need more efficiency in the final third. Football goes that way sometimes.”
