THE ACADEMY

In the youth football academy of 1. FSV Mainz 05, more than 200 kids and teenagers are actively training. A total of eleven teams are listed, including the Under-23 team, that offers the highest level of education for young talents and perspective professional players. The teams are coached by licensed instructors. Besides their football skills, it is the youth football academy’s interest to further develop the kids’ character and personality. The teams are cooperating with several schools to combine a good education and ideal training situations for all kids at the youth football academy. Some of the schools are recognized as "Elite Schools of Sports", a title awarded by the German Football Association "DFB" – their program suits the needs of budding athletes ideally, as they schedule their classes around training hours. The "Kolping Haus" provides housing for young players in Mainz under the care of pedagogically trained staff.
