FSV release special-edition kit to mark 120th anniversary

1. FSV Mainz 05 will be celebrating their 120th anniversary on Saturday, 15th March (15:30 CET), with a sell-out crowd expected to pack the MEWA ARENA for the game against SC Freiburg. To mark the occasion, the team will debut a special anniversary shirt inspired by the very first kit worn by the club back in 1911. The shirt – designed by club supplier JAKO – combines a retro design with unique elements to mark the club's anniversary, while being made from modern, sustainably sourced textile technology (100% recycled polyester).

The main colour of the shirt is off-white with a red stripe running diagonally across the front. The sleeves and collar of the shirt are made of a ribbed fabric, with a button-up collar featuring a concealed button placket. In place of the FSV logo, the front of the shirt features the 'Mainzer Rad' (Wheel of Mainz), part of the city's coat of arms, as the club's logo in its current form hadn't yet been created back in 1911. The neck of the shirt features the year the club was founded, as well as the current year, both written in Roman numerals. The logos of both supplier JAKO and main sponsor Kömmerling match the shirt's main colour palette, while sleeve sponsor IDM's logo has been embroidered on. The names and numbers on the back of the shirt have been designed to mimic the look of cotton. Additionally, the shirt features a one-off embroidered badge bearing both the upcoming matchday and opponent on it to mark the date of the club's 120th anniversary.

The shirt is available to pre-order online now, exclusively for club members. The pre-sale will be opened to the general public on Thursday, 20th March. The special-edition shirt is available in sizes S to 5XL, as well as women's sizes 34 to 44 and kids' sizes 116 to 164. The shirt retails for €94.95 (adults) and €74.95 (kids). Members will receive 10% off the purchase price. Additionally, members will be able to purchase the matching baseball cap, which is the same off-white colour as the shirt and features the Wheel of Mainz embroidered on the front (€29.95).

The shirts will be delivered in April in an exclusive collector's box which includes a special five-page comic book based on the history of Mainz 05. The comic was produced together with renowned illustrator Peter O'Toole. The box also includes a special fine-art print, as well as a shirt pin.
