Hanche-Olsen, Leitsch and Jenz all return to team training

Head coach Bo Henriksen spoke about the team's progress in training in the lead-up to the away game in Kiel

Andreas Hanche-Olsen was able to return to team training for the first time since his injury.

The 05ers took to the training pitch on Tuesday as they picked up preparations for Sunday's game away at Holstein Kiel (15:30 CET). Head coach Bo Henriksen spoke to the media about…

…his impressions from training: “The first two days were good. It's normal for us start the week in a more relaxed manner after an international break. The players will have Thursday off before we continue our preparations for Kiel on Friday and Saturday."

…Jonny Burkardt and Paul Nebel remaining in Mainz: “Jonny is back to full fitness again. For both him and Paul, it was good for them to take time to rest last week in order to be ready to play on Sunday."

…the players that have been able to return to team training: “Andreas Hanche-Olsen, Moritz Jenz and Maxim Leitsch have all returned this week, meaning we have nearly everyone back. Nelson Weiper and Karim Onisiwo are both carrying slight knocks, which is why they didn't train today. Otherwise, everyone else is expected to be fit for Sunday."

…Andreas Hanche-Olsen's injury: “He broke a toe. We did an x-ray recently and everything looked good. He's been feeling better with every day, which is why I assume that he will be available to play in Kiel."

…Stefan Bell's performances in recent matches: “Bello did very well after coming on during the second half against Bayern München. He also played well in Freiburg and against Dortmund, which was extremely important for us."

…Jae-sung Lee and Hyunseok Hong: “Both are still away on international duty with South Korea and will return later this week. They're playing today and will therefore be able to return to Mainz with enough time to recover."
