Lasse Riess extends contract until 2027
The 22-year-old goalkeeper joined the club’s academy in 2012 and has been a part of the senior squad since 2021
Lasse Rieß has extended his contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 by two years. The deal, which was originally set to expire in 2025, will now last until 2027. The 22-year-old keeper, who joined the club’s youth academy at the WOLFGANG FRANK CAMPUS in 2012, made the step up to the senior squad in 2021.
Sporting director Matin Schmidt: “Lasse has developed really well over the past few years. He is getting closer to playing in the Bundesliga by working hard and staying dilligent. We’re happy that he wants to continue his career and make his Bundesliga dreams a reality here with us.”
Lasse Rieß: “When Mainz told me that they want to extend my contract, I was over the moon, because it means a lot to be able to continue my journey here, at the club where I first started playing, in my home town. My optimism was reaffirmed by the faith that Bo showed in my sporting and personal development during my conversation with him. I’m really happy and proud that I’ve extended my contract until 2027.”
