Mainz 05 sign Nikolas Veratschnig

21-year-old joins from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC

1. FSV Mainz 05 have completed the signing of Austria U21 international Nikolas Veratschnig. The 21-year-old, who is natural on the right side of the park, arrives from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC, for whom he played 76 times for in all competitions. Veratschnig has signed a four-year contract valid until 2028 with FSV and the two clubs have agreed that the transfer details will remain undisclosed.

"Nikolas Veratschnig is an extremely dynamic wide player, and his pace will be a great addition to our squad. His performances in Austria have made him a sought-after player and we see lots of potential in him. We’re pleased that he’s chosen to move to Mainz 05,” said Christian Heidel, board member for sport.

Veratschnig himself had this to say about the transfer: “I’m ready to take the next step in my career. Mainz 05 is the perfect club for me to do that with – I’ll be able to continue my development under optimal conditions in one of Europe’s top leagues. My talks with the management, especially with coach Bo Henriksen, were great and gave me real motivation to make the move. Now I’m looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates and fans at Mainz and giving my all for the 05ers.”
