Moving forwards with tradition – the new JAKO home shirt
Checkered design pays homage to 1996/97 season
New season, new supplier, new sustainability standards, but the same tradition. Mainz 05’s new home kit by JAKO is here. The 05ers will be supplied by the Baden-Württemberg-based manufacturer for the next five years and JAKO’s first kit of the partnership reflects a long-held wish of Mainz fans, seeing the popular check pattern return.

he home jersey features a red-and-white checkered pattern reminiscent of the legendary Mainz jersey of the 1996/97 season, evoking memories of the playing days of club legends Jürgen Klopp, Sven Demandt or Lars Schmidt. At the same time, the jersey carries this tradition into the modern age and integrates elements of the club design such as the triangular pattern and the club's unmistakable typography.
The red sleeves are modern and close-fitting. The main sponsor Kömmerling appears on the chest in white, and alongside the JAKO logo, which also appears in white, ties into the city colours reflected in the home shirt. Of course, the Mainz city emblem is also featured on the collar.
But JAKO is not only setting modern standards visually: the new home jersey for the 23/24 season, like all of the 05ers' teamwear for the new campaign, is sustainably produced from recycled polyester. The jersey offers a high level of comfort thanks to its soft fabric, optimal moisture wicking and breathability.
Mainz 05 players will debut the new home jersey for on Friday evening in their friendly against against SG Gensingen/Grolsheim (7th July, 19:00 CEST, Ölbergstadion Grolsheim).
Home jersey available at friendly game, online and in club shop
The new home jersey will be available at Friday’s friendly in Grolsheim and in the online shop as well as in the club shops. The adult jersey (sizes S to 4XL) costs €84.95. Children's jerseys are available for €64.95 in sizes 116 to 164. Club members receive a 10% discount on these prices.
Experience more with collectID
Retro designs and modern possibilities: the new JAKO jerseys of 1. FSV Mainz 05 feature an NFC chip ("Near Field Communication") under the club logo, which enables contactless data transfer. Anyone who scans the NFC chip with their mobile phone can use the collectID app to receive exclusive content, promotions and experiences from Mainz 05. collectID is responsible for service and data processing.
