05ers visit Wiesbaden in DFB-Pokal first round

1. FSV Mainz 05’s first competitive match of the 2024/25 season will see them face recently-relegated Wehen Wiesbaden between 16th and 19th August, following the draw for the DFB-Pokal first round at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The dates and times for the 32 first-round fixtures will be finalised over the summer.

“To me, this is a great story for the Mainz-Wiesbaden region – the draw means we’ll have a short journey for our first competitive match of the new season, as well as a local derby that hasn’t been played for a long time,” said 05 sporting director Christian Heidel, who continued: “We’re a Bundesliga team and are aiming to reach the next round, but we know how big a challenge it will be against a third-tier side who will already be in full swing by mid-August.”
