Arnaud Nordin joins from Montpellier

Attacking midifelder signs contract until 2028

Nordin will wear the number nine shirt for the 05ers.

1. FSV Mainz 05 have completed the signing of Arnaud Nordin from Montpellier HSC. The attacking midfielder was a regular starter for the team from the south of France and, in addition to his time with youth club St. Etienne, he made a total of 225 competitive appearances in the French top flight, domestic cup competitions and Europa League combined. During this period, he scored 41 goals and contributed a further 20 assists. Nordin has also featured at every level of youth international football for France, from the U16s to the U23s. The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract at Bruchweg on Tuesday afternoon that will see him at the club until 2028.

“Arnaud is a two-footed player and a great dribbler. He operates at a high tempo and can play in any position across the forward line. He has proved his quality across more than 200 Ligue 1 appearances and can offer us immediate reinforcement. We have been monitoring him for some time now, so the fact we have been able to secure his services and will get to watch him perform for us in the red and white shirt is very exciting,” said sporting director Niko Bungert.

“Mainz’s style of play suits me really well. I have followed the team’s matches for a while and I already know Anthony Caci from the France Olympic squad. I get on with him well. It has been a dream of mine for some time to be able to play in the Bundesliga, so I am really pleased to get that chance here at Mainz 05. I am just looking forward to getting to know the fans, city and culture now,” told Arnaud Nordin.
