Mainz 05 to take part in charity match benefitting the Rhine-Ahr region

Plenty of events planned at the Eifelstadion in Adenau on Saturday, 14th October

1. FSV Mainz 05 will take part in a charity match on Saturday, 14th October against a team representing the Rhine-Ahr region (kick off: 14:30 CEST). The match will take place in cooperation with TuWi Adenau and will be hosted in the heart of the Ahr valley, which was hit by devastating flooding in summer 2021.

Fun-filled day of activities

In addition to the charity match, there will be plenty of other activities spread out throughout the day. The Eifelstadion will open its doors at 10:30 CEST to host a match between the Mainz academy and the TuWi Adenau U13s. There will also be a tournament featuring four U11 teams from the region. The afternoon will begin with a match between two inclusive football teams (12:30 CEST), before a performance from freestyle footballer, Jannik Freestyle. There will be plenty of activities for young fans as well, such as a bouncy castle and Bum Bum Baller Box, in addition to music, food and drinks.

The proceeds from the charity match will benefit the Lebenshilfe Kreisvereinigung Ahrweiler e.V., and help support various sporting and social programs for persons with disabilities. The Lebenshilfe house in Sinzig was completely destroyed in 2021, with 12 people losing their lives as a result of heavy flooding.

05ers continuing to provide support

With the charity match, the Zerofivers are continuing to provide support for the Ahr valley region. The club had already taken part in a charity match in October 2021, together with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, and were able to raise €150,000 for various sports clubs in the region. In the aftermath of the natural disaster, the Zerofivers regularly invited and provided a bus shuttle service for various academy sides from the Ahr valley to enable them to attend FSV home games. Both the club and its fans also donated money and other items to those in need.
