Huth on loan to Rotterdam

Home-grown talent to gain match experience in Eredivisie.

Jannik Huth made seven Bundesliga appearances in Mainz's battle against relegation last season.

Jannik Huth will join Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the season. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been loaned out to the Eredivisie club without an option to buy for the remainder of the season. Huth, a Zerofiver since 2007, worked his way into Mainz’s first team through the academy and has since made 49 competitive appearances for the U23s in the third division, and has played in seven Bundesliga games and one game in the Europa League for the first team. The Kreuznacher-born keeper was also called up to the Germany U21s for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where he picked up the silver medal with his country.

"With four ambitious goalkeepers and only one place between the sticks on the pitch it is difficult to get game time at Mainz. We are more than happy to give Jannik the opportunity to gain some match experience at a high level in Rotterdam," said Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder.
